artist • author • designer.
Art is my therapy. I become lost in the creative process –not necessarily the project du jour; in fact, the process triggers marvelous new ideas. As I work I often find myself meditating on that next design.
While I’ve worked in many different mediums from charcoal and pencil to wire, I find it is fiber art that is the constant – combining and embellishing handmade papers and textiles with threads, beads, and needlework. My main focus now is hand-stitched and beaded handmade paper and fabric pieces ranging from bowls to wall hangings.
As artist I exhibit my work in shows and galleries. Many pieces have been published in various magazines in the US and Great Britain. I have also designed prototypes and tradeshow samples for manufacturers including the original prototype for the Avion Bag for PenelopeBags.com.
In the process of designing for publication, I began to write. My most recent publication is The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Backyard Adventures. In addition to numerous articles, I am author of Paper Plus, co-authored of Beautiful Wedding Crafts, and contributed to The Unofficial Guide to the Southeast with Kids.
I live in Florida with my dog, Raleigh and my cat Cricket where I enjoy gardening, reading, and backyard adventures with three granddaughters.
